Absolute Essential Lavender True (Organic) makes a wonderful all-rounder. It is deeply calming - good for restful sleep, and when there is emotional conflict and nervous tension. Lavender is gentle enough to be applied directly to the skin, (for natural healing or to pulse points as a rescue response). Its gentle action makes it ideal for children and the elderly.

Lavender is a flowering shrub native to the Mediterranean region. This member of the Lavender family is popular with herbalists and aromatherapists alike. It's a highly versatile variety renowned for its aroma, ornamental beauty and broad use in supporting relaxation. The distillation of Lavandula angustifolia is widely considered an absolute essential in the home.

Lavender has been widely used for over 2500 years for both its rich aroma and health supporting properties. The Romans used it to scent their public bathhouses and Cleopatra was said to use as a perfume. In Medieval and Renaissance Europe washerwomen were known as lavenders because they spread their laundry over lavender bushes to dry.

Fragrance notes:

A scent of antiseptic cleanliness is underlined by a soft, floral herbaceousness. Delicate notes of wood and smoke.

Blends well with most essential oils. Highly versatile.

The Difference Between Lavenders:

There are three main types of Lavender - Lavender True, Lavender Sweet, and Lavender Spike.

  • Lavender True: Utilised in Skin Healing to assist the skin's natural healing and regeneration processes, especially when blistered or scalded. Lavender True  is very calming and may support sleep & calm. Use after times of emotional shock and to support healing when skin has suffered injury.
  • Lavender Sweet: Has a soft, gentle scent, ideal for using in cleaning products, laundry, and skin care. It can still be utilised to assist the skin's natural healing and regeneration processes, to support relaxation, calm and balance.
  • Lavender Spike: Is great respiratory support and for tight muscles and joints. Lavender Spike is reported to have calming properties that may be useful when there is chest congestion. Can be used to support clear sinuses and has a gentle penetrating aroma that encourages deep healthy breathing. It offers cleansing and relieving properties to support natural recovery from respiratory illness and is ideal for young children and elderly. A useful addition to massage blends for treating body tension and injury.

  • Lavender should be avoided during pregnancy.
For topical use: Blend with a carrier oil before applying to the skin, 5 drops per 10ml of carrier oil (i.e. almond, apricot, jojoba.)
For diffuser or vaporiser: Add 4-8 drops of essential oil as per instructions of device.

Skin healing support: Apply 2 - 5 drops to 10 ml carrier oil and apply to the area.

Sleep and relaxation: Add 10 drops to your bath or diffuser or rub 2 drops in a carrier oil on the soles of your feet before sleep. Repeat as required. Use half dose for children 5 years and older. Use Lavender Sweet for children under 5 years.  For a luxurious bath before sleep, add 10 drops along with a cup of epsom salts and a squirt of shower gel.

After an emotional shock: Bring the bottle of lavender to your nose and inhale deeply, or add a few drops to pulse points.

After impact injuries: Apply 1-2 drops directly to the area, prior to discolouration if possible. Repeat for 3 days. This oil can also be blended 50/50 with Geranium as a first-aid preparation after impact injuries.
