“The finest clothing made is a person's own skin, but, of course, society demands something more than this.” Mark Twain
I think we can all agree that acne is a major bummer.
It’s a skin disease commonly characterised by a variety of skin disorders, including inflammation, scaly red skin, blackheads and whiteheads (pimples or pustules,) nodules and sometimes, in worst case scenarios, scarring. Acne affects mostly skin dense with sebaceous follicles; common problem areas include the face, the chest, and the back.
These lesions are caused initially by blockages in the hair follicle.
Acne occurs commonly during adolescence where it is usually caused by an increase in testosterone, which accrues during puberty, regardless of gender. In some people, acne persists throughout adulthood, with some individuals carrying the condition well into their thirties, forties, and beyond. But the important thing is, even adult-onset acne can be treated.
When large nodules form, they are referred to as either cysts or boils. Cysts are enclosed sacs of fluid that can harden and become painful inflamed nodules beneath the skin’s surface. Boils are red, angry, infected pus-filled lumps around a hair follicle that are very painful and actively trying to eliminate infection and toxins from the body. As opposed to conventional acne, cysts and boils can also appear on the buttocks, groin, and armpit area, and anywhere else where sweat collects in hair follicles and perspiration ducts. Cystic acne affects deeper skin tissue than does common acne.
Aside from scarring, the main effects of acne are psychological. Especially during adolescence, when the individual is already very sensitive and hormonally imbalanced. Reduced self-esteem may result and, in many cases, depression has been observed. Hence, dealing with adolescent acne as quickly as possible is important to lessen the overall long-term impact to individuals. Adult-onset acne is usually related to stress, so natural health products that improve our response to stress can be of benefit for this condition (B vitamins, Magnesium etc.)
Tea tree oil products assist in preventing acne and pimples by cleansing the skin to remove a build-up of excessive oils and as such are good for the natural management of skin bacteria and pathogens responsible for acne and pimples.
Zinc is essential for the controlled regulation of the immune system; the enzymes involved in T cell and natural killer cell activity depend upon zinc for proper functioning. Acne results from deleterious inflammatory responses regulated by the immune system. Zinc supplementation will help moderate these inflammatory responses through its integral role in the enzyme activity of the immune system hereby helping the skin deal with the acne.
My teenage daughter & myself have been using the Zinc drops. She was advised to use them while being treated for veruccas. My daughter also found her skin has really improved. I have rosacea and thought they might help, but not so much for that. I have found they have been great for stopping hot flushes and we both have improved immune systems.
Improving hair and skin
I am on my second bottle. I massage it into my scalp and hair pre-wash and my hair is soft and shiny after washing (I have fine hair). It has also helped to soften fine lines on my face and I don't find it too oily (I have normal skin with a slightly oily t-zone). I have tried expensive face creams and this performs just as well if not better than the best of them.
My son has terrible acne. This product has made a huge difference to his skin. You use very little each time so it lasts a long time.
