Green Lipped Mussel Info

Green lipped mussel is the native New Zealand shellfish Perna canaliculusm, a mollusc that freely inhabits our long coastline and is an important cultivated species in our government regulated aquaculture industry. Farmed in our southern seawaters under careful protocols to prevent contamination and ensure high potency, New Zealand green lipped mussels have a natural anti-inflammatory effect beneficial for joint disorders and many other inflammatory conditions.

As well as being naturally rich sources of the Omega 3 essential fatty acids, green lipped mussels are also high in proteins, minerals, enzymes and GAGs (glycosaminoglycans) the essential factors in joint cartilage formation and repair.

Green Lipped Mussel Benefits

Research shows green lipped mussel helps maintain flexibility, mobility and suppleness of joints. It is an effective treatment for symptoms of both rheumatoid and osteo arthritis, including stiffness, pain, inflammation and joint mobility problems. It helps the body repair joint and cartilage damage, supplying chondroitin, glucosamine and other important nutrients essential to the repair process. Tendon, ligament and muscle function are all improved and conditions such as fibromyalgia and fibrositis relieved with green lipped mussel’s regenerative action.

Green lipped mussel is beneficial for several other inflammatory conditions including asthma, psoriasis, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Digestive upsets due to anti-inflammatory drugs can also be alleviated by green lipped mussel, and it can improve arthritic conditions in cats, dogs and horses as well as humans.

Green Lipped Mussel Side Effects

Contraindicated for people allergic to shellfish. Supplements (concentrated extracts) are not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Side effects of gastric discomfort and nausea are rare.

Product Reviews

  • Seriously quick acting and effective

As a very active person in my life and work I have found this product impressive. I woke with severe lumbar and sacra-iliac pain two days in a row to the point of almost immobility. I finally remembered I had this product and within 5-10 minutes of using it I had so much relief and could get on with my day. I have a calcium build up in my left big toe joint and when in pain this immediately gives relief, especially if I use it after dancing or exercising. Make sure you have this product in your cupboard.

  • Great results since 2003

Have taken Seatone since 2003 when I first had pain from osteoarthritis in my knee which was keeping me from sleeping and didn't respond at all to medication from the doctor. Started it on a Sunday afternoon - by the Thursday night was getting sound sleep through the night, pain gone. The osteoarthritis has got worse - was told by two orthopedic specialists that I needed both knee joints replaced in 2009 - but they couldn't operate because of another health problem. I do have discomfort in my knees when I walk but not bad enough to need to take any painkillers. However, I'm sure that I would be in dire straits if I discontinued my daily Seatone capsule. I have a friend who has been taking Seatone for longer than me and she also swears by it

  • Great product

Very happy with my green lipped muscle. Really helps the stiffness in my arthritic hands. Been using it for about 4 years.
