Dr Bronner’s is an American soap company, that has been producing simple, natural soaps for nearly 70 years. Their range of soaps include both solid bars in a variety of natural scents, and liquid castile soap which can be used for a variety of needs and purposes, either on its own or as a base for numerous household cleaning products.
The eponymous Dr Bronner’s soap company was founded in 1948 by Emmanuel Bronner, a third-generation soapmaker whose Jewish-American family had been master soapmakers since the mid-19th century. His distinctive packaging has been in use since that time, and is easily recognised by natural health consumers for the text that covers every inch of the label with Dr Bronner’s philosophy on spirituality and ecology.
The company has a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and sustainable and ethical business practice, with a high percentage of certified organic and fair trade ingredients, traceability in the supply chain, fairly paid wages, environmental initiatives and only simple, natural ingredients.
Dr Bronner's soaps are glycerine-rich to support skin moisture levels, and contain no synthetic fragrances, only essential oils. Try their natural toothpasterange too, it's 100% fluoride-free.
Dr Bronners 18-in-1 Hemp Baby Unscented Liquid Soap contains no fragrance and replaces it with double the olive oil, so it is great for people with allergies or sensitive skin.
Of course, it is great for babies as well! All soaps are certified organic under the USDA National Organic Program.
All soaps are also certified Fair Trade. Packaged in 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic bottles.
As Dr Bronner's continues to grow, they are able to partner with more and more organic & fair trade projects around the world, supporting organic farming practices, fair wages, and economic development. Adding organic & fair trade palm kernel oil to their soaps allows Dr Bronner's to support the good work being done by Natural Habitats in Ecuador, where small-scale farmers grow oil palms sustainably and receive a fair price for their palm fruits. Because the fatty acid profile of coconut and palm kernel oils are so similar, they can be used interchangeably in soapmaking, where they produce an identical rich and copious lather.
No rainforest habitat or wildlife is harmed in the production of their palm kernel oil, and Natural Habitats is certified under IMO’s “Fair for Life” program, the most rigorous fair trade and sustainable certification in the world, and the same program that certifies Dr. Bronner’s existing fair trade coconut and palm oil sister companies, Serendipol and Serendipalm.
Completely biodegradable and vegetable-based, our Castile Liquid Soaps have been called the "Swiss-army knife" of cleaning - usable for just about any cleaning task. These simple, ecologically formulated soaps are gentle enough for washing body, face or hair, but also powerful enough for tasks like dishwashing, mopping, laundry and even pest control. Different tasks call for different dilutions of the soap.
