Tonsillitis Relief

Tonsillitis refers to a condition where the tonsils get inflamed. This is most often caused by either a bacterial or a viral infection. Symptoms are mainly a sore throat and elevated body temperature (fever.) When the tonsilitis is caused by bacteria that belong to the genus A streptococcus, it is typically referred to as a "strep throat." The overwhelming majority of people recover completely with or without medication. In 40%, symptoms will resolve in three days, and within one week in 85% of people, regardless of whether streptococcal infection is present or not.

Tonsillitis Info

Tonsillitis refers to a condition where the tonsils get inflamed. This is most often caused by either a bacterial or a viral infection. Symptoms are mainly a sore throat and elevated body temperature (fever.) When the tonsilitis is caused by bacteria that belong to the genus A streptococcus, it is typically referred to as a "strep throat." The overwhelming majority of people recover completely with or without medication. In 40%, symptoms will resolve in three days, and within one week in 85% of people, regardless of whether streptococcal infection is present or not.

There are several symptoms of tonsillitis including the presence of: a sore throat, red, swollen tonsils, pain when swallowing, fever, coughing, headache, fatigue, chills, white pus-filled spots on tonsil, swollen lymph nodes (in neck) and pain in the ears and neck.

In cases of acute tonsillitis, the surface of the tonsil may be bright red and with visible white areas or streaks of pus (white spots.)

The most common cause is viral infection and includes adenovirus, rhinovirus, influenza, coronavirus, and respiratory syncytial virus. In rare cases, tonsilitis can also be caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (a herpes virus,) or cytomegalovirus. In these cases it is referred to as glandular fever (also referred to as infectious mononucleosis or "mono".)

Infectious microbes are in our internal and external environments all the time, and we are constantly coming into contact with them. Responding to them helps build our natural immunity, and our tonsils are an important part of the body’s immune system.  They are the respiratory system’s first line of defence so it’s important to look after your tonsils and keep them working well for you.

Under 'normal' circumstances, when viruses and bacteria enter the body through the nose and mouth, they are 'filtered' by the tonsils. Within the tonsils (an immunological fort, connected to the lymphatics,) white blood cells help fend off the viruses or bacteria by producing inflammatory cytokines (immune system chemical 'hormones',) which also lead to fever (the temperature elevation is meant to help stem the growing infection by denaturing enzymes responsible for cell replication.) The infection may also be present in the throat and surrounding areas, causing inflammation of the pharynx (throat canal).

Another contributing factor to tonsillitis is unexpressed emotional distress.  The mouth and throat area is the 'avenue of expression' – our main channel of communication.  Holding back something that needs to be said can be an underlying cause of irritation and inflammation in the throat, manifesting in tonsillitis.

There are natural remedies available that may help alleviate the symptoms of tonsillitis and also help boost the immune system's natural ability to fend off infections. These mainly work by boosting and assisting existing immune function. Vitamin C, echinacea and garlic are beneficial for this.

I used this tincture during the winter months to support immune system. I like adding it to my morning tea . It taste nice and I believe it helps as well. I was using this alongside with other product (Viralex) , I also gave it to my child (11 y.o) and I can honestly say that this winter we survived without any major cold/flue outbreaks .

  • Winter without flue

I ordered this product just in desperate attempt to "do something" for supporting immune system during the winter time. Last winter we had cold and flue going circles in our family and I just wanted to avoid that happening again. I was taking Viralex regularly on a daily maintenance dose alongside with other natural remedies. Well, this winter I have not had any major cold/flue outbreaks. At the end of season I got some running nose and sore throat symptoms and I managed to get away just with home remedies. I believe this staff works.
