Apple Cider Vinegar Info

Vinegar has been used by many cultures for centuries for a variety of reasons. Hippocrates is said to have used it for cleaning ulcers and sores, while Japanese Samurai consumed vinegar as a strengthening tonic.

It contains acetic acid, an antibacterial and antifungal chemical, which gives vinegar its sour smell. As well as acetic acid, there are many other bioactive compounds including antioxidants and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus which are required for many functions for optimal health and well-being.

With vinegar having high antioxidant activity, as well as antimicrobial properties, it means that as the body ages or deals with chronic inflammation, there is some support to counter the effects of these.

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Apart from being a general well-being tonic and improving digestive health, Apple Cider Vinegar drink has had interesting results when studied for being of benefit for blood sugar dysregulation. The acetic acid can help the way the body converts sugar into a stored form (glycogen) within the muscles, as well as supporting insulin sensitivity and prompting cells to metabolize glucose.

It may also support blood sugar because it can help to slow down the way the stomach empties complex carbohydrates, therefore giving the body smaller amounts of sugar over a longer period of time for more stable blood glucose levels.

How to Take Apple Cider Vinegar

As well as taking Apple Cider Vinegar as a healthy drink mixed in a small amount of warm water, it can also be used in plenty of interesting ways:

  • Salad dressings
  • Household cleaner
  • Directly onto weeds as a weed killer
  • Flea deterrent on pets
  • Rinsed in the hair

I use this vinegar in my gluten free bread as it adds flavour and texture. I also have a teaspoon full mixed with water first thing in the morning. It's also great mixed with a few drops or on its own with warm water and use it as a final rinse when washing your hair it's good for your hair and it helps with any itch.

This organic ACV is very easy to drink in warm water every morning. It was actually the really nice apple cider flavour, that is not too sharp that has kept me drinking it regularly. A previous brand i tried nearly put me off as it was so sour. I think it is a very reasonable price also and of course great that it is organic.

I did my research and this brand is the very best. I am doing the Intermittent Fasting so take three shots of this Apple Cider Vinegar per day as recommended, on getting up, mid morning and early afternoon. Gives me energy, tastes nice, stops hunger and I'm losing weight.
