Glucosamine Supplements

Glucosamine is a natural constituent of healthy cartilage and synovial fluid in the joints of the body. It is derived from glucose and the amino acid glutamine, and as we age we tend to produce less. Our bodies use glucosamine to build and repair cartilage, tendons, ligaments, synovial fluid and other tissues.

Glucosamine Info

We need glucosamine primarily for the healthy structure, strength and shock absorbing functions of our joint health. Although glucosamine is produced by our bodies, our capacity to do this diminishes with age.

Glucosamine Benefits

Glucosamine provides the raw material for our bodies to maintain and repair the components critical for healthy joint mobility and function. It is a beneficial therapeutic supplement in osteoarthritis, a degenerative disease of the joints of the body.

Glucosamine Side Effects

Glucosamine sulphate is in a different category to sulphur drugs and sulphate-containing foods, and will not cause a reaction in people with sulphate allergies. Because glucosamine is usually sourced from shellfish shells, people with shellfish allergies should naturally avoid these products. A vegetarian supplement is available (manufactured using no animal product).

People with unstable blood sugar conditions are advised to consult a health practitioner before taking a glucosamine supplement.

Started taking this about 1 month ago and found so far to be good, I was just taking Turmeric extra strength but sadly it did"t agree with me.
I will update as time goes by.

As a vegan I was so pleased to find these, however 4 months after switching over to these and another veggie variation by Solgar I'm limping and with worse hip pain than I've ever had. It could be this would have happened anyway, but for sure there was no new injury that caused it. Sadly I will be reverting to the shellfish sourced varieties :(

Trying to maintain joint mobility as I age. Generally take one a day. Shoulders seem to be less noisy when rotating , hopefully my knees will follow suit
