Wheatgrass is the green shoots of sprouted wheat grain, high in chlorophyll and a rich source of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids and fibre. It is another of nature’s super foods. The enlivening properties of wheatgrass were discovered in the 1930s and popularised in the 1960s by Ann Wigmore, who researched and promoted wheatgrass juice as an important part of her anti-cancer treatment. It is a potent antioxidant and alkaliniser.
Wheatgrass is gluten free, as none of the gluten in wheat is contained in the sprouted green leaf.
