Treatment for the cat!
25th Nov 2014
I am using the Rutin as a 250mg dose three times a day for our cat, diagnosed with chylothorax (lymph fluid in the chest, often caused by a tear in a lymph duct) Normally cats with this succumb very quickly, but there is some good scientific research now to support it's use in these cases. It is also used for lymphodema in post-mastectomy breast cancer patients. As a nurse I was wary of trying it, but in the absence of anything constructive from the vet, I decided to give it a go. I ordered from Healthpost.co.nz and it arrived the next day. Within 3 hours of her first dose (crushed and dissolved in 1ml water) Mimi's breathing slowed and was less laboured. As there is no such thing as a placebo effect with animals, I have to assume it is helping her. She is likely to need this long term (at least 6 months - possibly for life). Please don't stop stocking it!! The vet has also read the research (look on Pub-med), and is surprised that she is still alive, and slightly improved a month later.
