Carrier Oils

Natural Carrier Oils are prized for their emollient properties - in that they are both nourishing and softening for the skin. Carrier Oils can be used on their own, or you can add a few drops of your favourite essential oil to add fragrance and enjoy a little aromatherapy.

All the Carrier Oils in our range are 100% natural, and do not contain any petrochemicals. They are generally fragrance free making them perfect for sensitive skin.

What is a Carrier Oil?

Carrier Oils are made from plants and are used as a base for making massage oils, balms, and perfumes. On their own they contain nourishing properties for the skin - with oils like sweet almond oil being a gentle option for young or sensitive skin.

Other types of Carrier Oils are jojoba, argan, and calendula – which are all great oils for use on the face for a youthful complexion. Argan is also famous as a hair mask to brighten and bring back shine to dull hair.

Avocado oil is rich in vitamin A, adding suppleness to dry or sun kissed skin. Castor oil is very thick and sticky it’s more suited for smaller areas of the body such as joints, as a base for lip balm, and as a binding agent for DIY Natural Bath Bombs.

How to use a Carrier Oil

The name ‘Carrier Oil’ explains their role as a carrier for essential oils, which must be diluted before applying to the skin.

  • Choose your Carrier Oil based around what you will be using it for (check through the product descriptions to help you choose).
  • Use on its own as a moisturiser, a massage oil, or add to your bath for an ultra-lush experience.
  • A Carrier Oil can be used as a base for your homemade lip balms, massage balms, and bath bombs.
  • Incorporate some aromatherapy by adding a few drops of an essential oil to fit the mood, such as Energising Oils, Oils for Sleep, or Oils for Stress and Relaxation.

Remember to always mix your essential oil with a Carrier Oil before applying to the skin.
